USA Head Coach John Hynes
On Michigan State...
"Michigan State is very talented. They played a full game and obviously they gave us all that we could handle and more."
On the Spartans matching up with Cornell...
"I think they will be two excellent games. Cornell has very good goaltending and I think they'll be right in the mix with them."
Michigan State Head Coach Rick Comley
On exhibition play during the regular season...
"It is tough to play an exhibition game against a highly skilled team like them after a very emotional Michigan game."
On Tonight's Contest...
"I thought we played great in the first period, so-so in the second, and solid in the third. Overall I thought we played well."
Michigan State Forward Daniel Sturges
On playing for MSU...
"This is the most fun I've ever had in my life. Coming to MSU has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. Having my dad play here makes it all the more special."
Michigan State Forward Chris Lawrence
On the importance of this game...
"It was an important game. Even though it's an exhibition game you want to come out and have pride."
On breaking into the lineup and contributing...
"It was good to just get out there. It's been a while since I've played in a game and to get out there and contribute and feel like one of the guys was fun."
Michigan State Forward Drew Miller
On the game...
"It is definitely important to take the positives out of the Michigan game and bring them in to tonight against a team that is very skilled, but one we should beat. I thought the second period was a little bit of a lapse, but that tends to happen when you are up four goals. Overall, I was happy with how we played tonight.
On differences from last year...
I think the biggest difference is that we set a goal for ourselves to bring our best game whether we are playing Michigan or a younger team like U.S.A. In the past we tended to play down to their game, but tonight we played two solid periods and I think that is a positive step towards playing our hockey every game out."
Michigan State Defenseman Corey Potter
On his impression of the game...
"I thought in the first period we just came out firing. The four goals right away put them on their heels early. The second period was o.k., but we took it to them again in the third period. I think overall it was a pretty good game, we learned some things here and there and we are starting to improve.
Michigan State Defenseman Ethan Graham
On what you use this game for...
"I thought the game went all right. It is an exhibition game so you are working on a lot of the same things you are working on all week at practices. You just try to take a step forward and not backwards and I think we did a good job at that."
