EAST LANSING, Mich.- - Michigan State field hockey won its second of three games on its California road trip, shutting out Pacific 2-0, Saturday night.
Junior Ashley Pernicano scored first for the Spartans, with 19:01 remaining in the first half. Freshman Inge Kaars Sijpestijn gave MSU the insurance goal, striking at 42:38 on Pernicano's assist. It was her second goal in two days. Defensively, State allowed the Tigers only four shots.
"Our defense played well and we did some good things. This has been a good trip for us, hopefully we can close it out with a win against Stanford," stated head coach Michele Madison.
MSU travels to Palo Alto on Monday, Sept. 5, closing out its West Coast trip with Stanford at 1 p.m.
