EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State gymnastics team participated in the Sixth Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk last weekend, raising over $1600 for the event. In 2005, more than 400,000 participants in 100 cities across the country raised more than $34 million to help the American Cancer Society in a united fight against breast cancer.
"The Michigan State gymnastics team made such a great contribution to the breast cancer awareness walk," American Cancer Society Area Executive Director Steve Konsdorf said. "It was great to see that the team brought family and friends who also participated in the event. This was just another excellent example of the support that we recieve from Michigan State University."
The Capitol Area service of the American Cancer Society was able to bring over 3,500 walkers to the Lansing State Capitol, honor 178 breast cancer survivors in the community, and raise over $240,000 for life-saving breast cancer research, education, local patient services, and advocacy at the event.
