GLENCOE, Ill. - Play at the Windon Memorial at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill., was suspended due to darkness on Oct. 8, with six of the 12 competing schools still needing to complete round two. Michigan State was able to fit all 36 holes in before the sun fell, and currently is tied for third place at 28 over-par (290-306--596) with Kansas.
Colorado is tops on the leaderboard, at 16-over, with players completing 12-15 holes. Six strokes ahead of the Spartans is second-place SMU (296-294--590), with the Mustangs also managing to get through both rounds on the day.
Matt Harmon turned in the best performance for the Spartans, at 3-over 145. Harmon produced six birdies for a team-low, 2-under 69 in round one and a 5-over 76 in round two. Ryan Brehm (71-79--150), Randy Hutchison (76-74--150), Steve Cuzzort (76-76--152) and Grant Tungate (78-79--157) are also competing.
Other teams competing in this year's Windon Memorial include Illinois, Kent State, New Mexico, North Florida, Northern Colorado, host Northwestern, Toledo and Western Illinois.
Skokie Country Club is known as one of the top ranked courses in America, rated No. 72 in the country by Golfweek. The Donald Ross-design was built in 1897 and hosted the 1922 U.S. Open.
Round two will resume on Oct. 9 at 7:45, with the third and final round following.
