"We are so excited to add Rochelle to our already outstanding recruiting class," said head coach Kathie Klages. "With the depth of this class, and with the success of the 2006 team, we believe we will challenge for a Big Ten title and an NCAA Championship berth as early as next season."
Robinson is a Level 10 competitor from Ocean Tumblers Gymnastics, where she is coached by Diane Berry and Rick Walker. In 2004, Robinson captured the Junior Olympic national-vaulting title, while adding a ninth-place finish on floor exercise. On April 8, The Chesapeake, Va., native qualified for the 2006 Junior Olympic Championships, which will be held in
"Rochelle excels in the vault and is an exceptional tumbler," added Klages. "She does some unique skills on the uneven bars and is consistent on the balance beam. We are very happy to welcome Rochelle to the Spartan gymnastics family."
The five-member incoming class should compliment the ten returning Spartans nicely, as the team strives to reach regional competition for the 17th time in school history, and the NCAA Championships for the first-time since 1988.
