Morgan Helps Lead Team USA To Global Games Title

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team defeated the Global Games All-Americans, 86-72, in the Global Games title game on Saturday night. Michigan State sophomore forward Raymar Morgan started all four games during the tournament, which was used as a tune-up for the FIBA U19 World Championship, set to begin July 12 in Novi Sad, Serbia. The tournament will run through July 22.
Through four games, Morgan averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game. He shot 54.8 percent from the field (17-of-31) and connected on 2-of-4 3-point attempts. His top-scoring game was a 15-point effort against Puerto Rico. Only Michael Beasley (13.3 ppg) averaged more points per contest.
Team USA will open the FIBA U19 World Championship against Mali on July 12 at 12 p.m. EDT, followed by games against China (July 13, 2:30 p.m. EDT) and Serbia (July 14, 12 p.m. EDT) as part of the preliminary round of play. The second round of competition runs July 16-18, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals being held July 20-22.
