EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior Gwen Riley has been selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 22 in Louisville, Ky.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Riley is having her most successful season in a Spartan uniform. She leads the team with 10 assists, is fourth in points (24) and has seven goals. Riley has played in all 16 games so far this season, starting in 15 as a member of the Spartan offense. She has helped Michigan State outscore their opponents 63-20 and hold a 152-63 advantage in penalty corners.
"We are excited to be represented by Gwen Riley at this year's Senior All-Star Game," said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "Gwen has developed into a solid player for our program over the course of her playing experience at Michigan State. She will be excited to play again in Louisville as she is a Louisville native. It has been the place where she was introduced to the game, played in high school, and now will also be the place she finishes her competitive field hockey career."
Michigan State has sent at least one representative to the NFHCA Senior All-Star game each year since 2002, most recently sending Becky Manning and Amy Schneider in 2007.
The game will take place at Trager Stadium on the University of Louisville's campus at 7:30 p.m., the day before the NCAA Division I Championship game.
