EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball junior Allyssa DeHaan was honored as the Big Ten Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. DeHaan becomes the first Spartan to earn weekly conference recognition this season and takes home the award for the sixth time in her career.
DeHaan posted her second double-double of the season, and 15th of her career, on Thursday in the Spartans' 71-65 overtime win at Indiana. The win moved Michigan State into the top spot in the Big Ten at 11-3. DeHaan had game-highs with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks, while also adding two assists and a steal in a career-high 41 minutes. She was 8-of-10 from the field, including a game-tying field goal with 5.7 second left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
DeHaan moved into ninth on both the Michigan State all-time scoring and rebounding lists in the win. With 1,216 points and 683 rebounds, she is one of five Spartans to be in the top-10 in each.
With her six blocks, DeHaan now has 373 career blocks, ranking her second all-time in the Big Ten and 11th on the NCAA career list. She is 11 rejections away from tying the conference's career mark, owned by Jessica Davenport.
For the season, Michigan State is 15-0 when DeHaan reaches double-figures in points and 10-0 when she leads them in scoring.
The Spartans look for the season sweep over in-state rival Michigan on Thursday. The annual Pink Zone game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. at the Breslin Center. The game can be seen for free on BigTenNetwork.com.
