EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University Athletics announced Thursday, Sept. 3 that it has added a free downloadable desktop alert application, The S-Line, to its official athletics department web site (www.msuspartans.com), providing fans and alumni of the Spartans instant access to sports-related information.
The S-Line, name altered from the B-Line, gives fans a full view of Michigan State Athletics, alerting them to the latest breaking news, stories, as well as highlights, all while allowing one-click access to msuspartans.com. Free software for the S-Line is available for both PCs and Macs and can be downloaded through the official Michigan State Athletics web site, www.msuspartans.com.
"We are very excited about providing this product to our fans," MSU Associate Athletic Director for Communications John Lewandowski said, "but we actually had to ask if New Tier would change the name of its product for us!"
"We loved MSU's request for a name change," New Tier Chief Development Officer Alicia Nevins said. "There's nothing better than honoring such passionate sports rivalries...and when we realized that its in-state rival's head basketball coach is John Beilein (literally pronounced Bee-line), we absolutely respected the request."
www.msuspartans.com is produced and hosted by CBS College Sports Network, a leader in the official collegiate athletic web site business with over 200 colleges and universities currently under contract. The S-Line was provided to Michigan State University and msuspartans.com through a partnership agreement between CBS College Sports Network and New Tier, Inc., a pioneer and industry leader in digital marketing solutions. CBS College Sports Network and New Tier are facilitating the launch of similar versions of the S-Line at 75 colleges and universities in the fall of 2009.
"CBS College Sports Network is thrilled to bring the S-Line to the users of www.msuspartans.com and to fans and alumni of Michigan State around the world," CBS College Sports Network Senior Vice President for University Sales & Marketing Robert Schupler said. "The S-Line is a lot like having your own personal sporting news ticker docked at the bottom of your screen, providing the latest news, scores and information directly to the desktop."
