Allyssa DeHaan Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball senior Allyssa DeHaan earned her second Big Ten Conference Player of the Week recognition of the season on Monday, as announced by the conference office. DeHaan carried the Spartans (14-7, 5-5) to a 56-52 victory at Northwestern on Thursday, posting her third double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and also added five blocks.
DeHaan received the weekly conference honor for an MSU record eighth time in her career.
DeHaan came through in the clutch on Thursday, knocking down a pair of baskets in the final two minutes with the game tied to put the Spartans up for good at 53-49. DeHaan's 24 points on Thursday were the most by a Spartan this season, as she went 10-of-18 from the field and 4-of-7 from the free throw line. Her double-double was the 18th of her career.
DeHaan is steadily climbing the Michigan State career record books, currently ranking sixth all-time with 1,558 points and moved into fourth place on Thursday with 861 rebounds. She is also third all-time with 600 field goals and 330 free throws made. Already the conference's blocked shots record holder, DeHaan is second on the NCAA Division I career blocked shots list with 468 and is 13 blocks away from surpassing Sandora Irvin for the NCAA record.
This season, DeHaan leads the Spartans with 12.4 points, ranking her 14th in the Big Ten, and 3.1 blocks, second in the league and eighth nationally. She is also second on the team and ninth in the conference with 6.4 rebounds, and has hit 81.3% of her free throw attempts to rank eighth in the Big Ten.
