Men's Golf Prepares for Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Sophomore Dave Ellis is in the competitive lineup for the Spartans for the first time this season.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team returns to action this weekend with the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, hosted at The Centennial Pinehurst No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C. The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Friday, March 12.

Competing for the Spartans will be senior Jack Newman, who is the lone MSU golfer who has competed in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, sophomores Dave Ellis and Chris Mory, and freshmen James Ross and Matthew Moseley.

Michigan State, who placed third last year at Pinehurst, is joined in the field by Ball State, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Francis Marion, Marshall, UNC Greensboro, Northern Illinois, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, SMU, VCU and Virginia Tech.

MSU will begin action at 9 a.m. ET on Friday, grouped with Penn State and Richmond.
