
Lindsey Hansen Receives All-Big Ten Softball Honor

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Junior Lindsey Hansen of the Michigan State softball team has been named to the Third-Team All-Big Ten list as a shortstop as announced by the conference office today (May 19). Hansen becomes the 57th Spartan to be recognized by the Big Ten on the All-Conference list.
Hansen ended the 2010 season atop the conference leaderboard with 18 doubles, ranking her 16th in the nation this year. The Valparaiso, Fla., native, also was fourth in the Big Ten with 112 total bases and sixth in slugging percentage (.723).
The Spartan junior led the team in nearly every offensive category this season, including home runs (11), runs (30) and hits (57). Hansen also impressed defensively with a team-high 106 assists on the year.
Hansen is now ranked fourth all-time in career home runs with 22. Her 11 homers this season put her in third in a single season. Hansen is now eighth all-time in program history with 57 extra-base hits.
Hansen ends the year with the seventh-best batting average in the conference (.368) - the 10th-best single season record in school history. Hansen improves to 10th all-time in career batting average with a .308 mark.
Classmate Karen Fox was named MSU's recipient of the Sportsmanship Award from the Big Ten. Fox was chosen as an individual who has distinguished herself through sportsmanship and ethical behavior both on and off the field.
