TAMPA, Fla. - Five members of the Michigan State football team, along with six players from the University of Georgia, visited the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital of Tampa on Tuesday afternoon.
Skyler Burkland, Bennie Fowler, Tyler Hoover, Kevin Pickelman and Johnathan Strayhorn, who are all injured and unable to compete in the Outback Bowl, represented the Spartan program at the hospital.
"It's a great opportunity to give back to the community and the little kids of Tampa," said Fowler. "It shows how truly blessed we are to play the game that we play, and to see things from a different perspective."
"I had a great time," said Burkland, as the players gave the children t-shirts and posters and also signed autographs. "They enjoyed it, so it was great being here."
