
Darnell Named Big Ten Third Star of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Michigan State senior forward Brent Darnell has been named the Big Ten's Third Star of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The weekly conference honor is the first of Darnell's career.
Darnell extended his season-long point streak to four games with a goal and an assist in the Great Lakes Invitational. The native of Canton scored the game-winning goal in the Spartans' 2-0 win over Ferris State in the GLI semifinals. Darnell assisted on Rhett Holland's goal against Michigan in the tournament title game.
Darnell has three goals and three assists over the last four games and a total of eight points on the season.
Darnell's selection marks consecutive weekly honors for the Spartans as Joe Cox (First Star), Thomas Ebbing (Second Star) and Ryan Keller (Third Star) swept the awards on Dec. 16.
Michigan State returns to action on Jan. 9 when it hosts the U.S. National Team Development Program at Munn Ice Arena at 7 p.m.
