Green Tops White, 5-2, in Hockey Exhibition

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State hockey team held its annual Green and White scrimmage on Sunday at Munn Ice Arena with the Green team coming away victorious, 5-2, in the two-period exhibition. JT Stenglein, Dylan Pavelek and Sam Saliba led the effort for the Green team as the trio combined for nine points.
The Green team never trailed as Stenglein gave the squad a 2-0 lead with goals early in both the first and second periods.
With the Green team leading 3-2 midway through the third period, Pavelek put the game away with two goals in a 4:01 span. Stenglein assisted on both goals.
Saliba and defensemen Butrus Ghafari both had two assists for the Green team.
Junior goaltender Ed Minney stopped 22 of 24 shots in the 40-minute game.
Following the game, the team held a meet and greet, signing autographs for fans.
The Spartans will begin the regular season on Friday when they travel to Lake Superior State to face the Lakers in a weekend series.
