• Friday's 100-53 win over Mississippi Valley State was the 40th consecutive win on the home opener. Michigan State is now 100-18 all-time in home openers, including a perfect 22-0 under Tom Izzo.
• The last time MSU scored 100 points was on Dec. 28, 2013 in a 101-48 win over New Orleans.
• MSU's 47-point margin of victory was the eighth greatest in Breslin Center history and its largest since the 53-point margin against New Orleans.
• Miles Bridges scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the first half on 10-of-11 shooting from the floor. Bridges also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.
• The Spartans assisted on 84% of their baskets, tallying 33 helpers on 39 made field goals. The 33 assists were the most since MSU registered 35 assists vs. Nebraska Omaha on Dec. 4, 2011, and good for the fourth-best single game effort in school history. Cassius Winston led the way with 11 assists.
• Four different Spartans scored in double figures. In addition to Bridges' 24 points, Eron Harris scored 19 points, Nick Ward had 18 and Matt McQuaid added 15. Both Harris and McQuaid went 5-for-8 from deep.
• Mississippi Valley State was held to 32.8% (22-67) from the floor. The Spartans have held their opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the field in all three games so far this season.
• Michigan State scored the first bucket of the game and never allowed MVSU to take the lead in the game. After leading 24-19 with seven minutes to go in the opening frame, the Spartans closed the half on a 24-4 run to open up a 48-23 lead at the break.
• MSU held a dominating 42-16 advantage in points in the paint and 30-4 edge in fast break points.
• Michigan State finished with a +24 rebounding margin, grabbing 46 boards, including 12 offensive boards that led to 18 second chance points. In fact, MSU grabbed more offensive rebounds (12) than MVSU had defensive boards (10).
