
Meet the Spartans: Matt Lloyd

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State wrestling team will feature a freshman each week in order to "Meet the Spartans" leading up to the 2016-17 season.
This week freshman Matt Lloyd (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge High School) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.
Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
I chose to wrestle at Michigan State because the program has a lot of great new coaches and talent coming in. I have always been an MSU fan and I would love to be apart of an amazing program.
What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
I am most excited about having the opportunity to increase my skills as a wrestler, and an athlete. I want to push myself and reach my full potential.
When did you first start wrestling?
I wrestled for a year in elementary school, but did not continue wrestling until my freshman year of high school.
Favorite wrestling memory?
Winning the conference championship for both my team and I my Junior and Senior year.
What's your major at Michigan State and why?
Business. It has the most options for careers that I would like to go into. Also, with building the right connections it will hopefully give me a path to be very successful.
Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
My high school wrestling coaches. They were always there to show me what I needed to be successful.
What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
If I could have a super power it would be the ability to control gravity.
Favorite Meal?
Snow crab legs and steak.
Favorite TV show?
The Walking Dead.
Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
My favorite thing to do outside of wrestling is to be outdoors playing other sports, adventuring in new areas, or being with my friends.
