Kaleb Johnson Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State freshman Kaleb Johnson was named Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. This is the second time he has been honored this season after garnering honors this fall when he finished third at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate.
Johnson, a native of Naples, Florida, earned his second B1G Golfer of the Week honor after finishing tied for sixth at the very competitive Clemson Invitational. Johnson finished with a 1-under 215 (78-66-71). His second round 66 was the second-lowest round of the tournament. The 66 also tied his season low. He carded 13 birdies through three rounds while finishing in the top-10 of a tournament for the third time this season
Prior to earning Big Ten Golfer of the week honors earlier this season, the last Spartan to earn the honor was Josh Heinze on February 17, 2016. Johnson has had a standout rookie campaign for the Spartans.
Michigan State is back in action on April 15-16 at the Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Big Ten rival Purdue. The tournament will be held at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Course in West Lafayette, Indiana.
