The Spartans will host four meets at Jenison Field House.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State women's gymnastics head coach Mike Rowe announced the Spartans' 2019 schedule Wednesday.
Â
The schedule is highlighted by four home meets, including Big Ten opponents Ohio State (Jan. 27) and Rutgers (Feb. 16). The Spartans will host ACC program NC State for the first home dual of the season on January 5, and will close out the home schedule with a quad-meet on Senior Night against Ball State, Illinois-Chicago and Alaska (Mar. 17).

Spartan fans will be able to get their first glimpse of the 2019 women's gymnastics team at Meet the Spartans on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. in the Gymnastics Training Center. MSU will hold its Green and White meet on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in Jenison Field House. Â
Â
MSU will also be competing in two Elevate The Stage events. Â
Â
"This schedule will provide our program with some of the toughest competition to date, and the opportunity to compete on the podium four times," Rowe said. "In March we will see SEC opponents Georgia and Arkansas, along with Big Ten foe Minnesota, at Elevate The Stage in Birmingham, Ala., when teams are revving up for the end of the season conference championships, so everyone will be at their best. We also have an incredible opportunity the second weekend in January to face last year's defending National Champion, UCLA, along with Cal and UC Davis."
Â
Following the home-opener, MSU travels to The Golden State for the California Grand Invitational with a quad against UCLA, Cal, and UC Davis on January 12.
Â
The Green and White begins conference competition with a trip to rival Michigan on Jan. 18. The two other away Big Ten duals are at Minnesota (Feb. 2) and at Illinois (Feb. 8). Â
Â
The Spartans travel to Toledo, Ohio for this year's Big Five Meet, as one of MSU's Elevate The Stage events, where they will face Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, and Penn State on Friday, Feb. 22.
Â
MSU begins March with a visit to in-state Eastern Michigan (Mar. 1), before traveling south to Birmingham, Alabama for Elevate The Stage, where the Spartans will face Arkansas, Georgia and Minnesota as part of the event that includes Alabama and Auburn on March 8.
Â
The 2019 Big Ten Championships are scheduled for March 22-23 in University Park, Pa., and will be hosted by Penn State.
Â
"We're excited and accept the challenge of what appears to be a tough schedule this year, but I truly feel that you raise the bar for your athletes and program by how you schedule your competition," Rowe said. "Our girls are in their fourth week of official practice, and we're seeing great things already with both attention to detail and consistency. It's a long preseason, but we are enthusiastic to see what this year will bring us!"
