Spartan Women's Soccer Faces Huskers in Season Finale

The season comes to a close with Wednesday's matchup at Nebraska.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team travels to Lincoln, Neb., for the final game of the 2018 season Wednesday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. eastern time from Hibner Stadium.
Wednesday's game takes place after the original meeting between the two teams scheduled for Oct. 14 was postponed due to snowy weather conditions in Lincoln.
KICKOFF
The Michigan State women's soccer team heads into the final week of the season with a rescheduled game at Nebraska. The Spartans and Huskers will kickoff at 1 p.m. eastern time from Hibner Stadium in Lincoln, and will be streamed on BTN Plus.
DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT
The Spartan back line has been much improved in 2018, aided by the return of Michaela Kovacs. MSU gave up 39 goals through the first 17 games in 2017, compared to just 19 goals in 17 games this season. The defense, led by Kovacs, Madsion VanDyke, Samantha White, and Athena Biondi has allowed 15 goals through 10 B1G games in 2018, compared to 27 through the first 10 games a year ago. Â

Camryn Evans, a true freshman from Fenton, Mich., is making the most of her first season as a Spartan. The forward is eighth in the Big Ten Conference in both goals per game (0.44), and goals scored (seven).
MICHIGAN STATE NOTES
Goalkeeper Reilley Ott sits 70th nationally and fifth in the Big Ten Conference in shutouts with six clean sheets. Ott ranks eighth in the conference and 34th nationally in goalkeeper minutes played with 1,620 spent on the field. The Spartans rank second in the conference in save
percentage (0.830), and seventh in shutout percentage (0.353). Offensively, MSU is sixth in the Big Ten in shot accuracy at 0.474.
SCOUTING THE CORNHUSKERS
NU has hit a tough stretch as the regular season winds down. After holding first place in the conference, the Huskers have lost three of the last four games heading into Wednesday's regular season finale. Faith Carter leads the team with nine goals scored, followed by Savanah Uveges, who has put seven across the line for the Huskers. Brenna Ochoa has tallied seven assists. Aubrei Corder has started all 18 games in goal and holds a 1.39 goals against average.
