Women's Soccer Closes Season Against Indiana on Wednesday

The two teams will meet in a rescheduled game on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer completes the 2019 season on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. against Indiana.Â
The teams were originally scheduled to play on Sept. 27, but inclement weather caused the game to be postponed.
Michigan State currently sits at 8-9-1 on the season, with a 1-8-1 mark in Big Ten play.
LAST TIME OUT
The Spartans fell to its third ranked Big Ten opponent of the season on Sunday, Oct. 27.
After striking first with two early goals, No. 21 Rutgers scored the next three goals and went on to win 3-2 on Senior Day.
Junior midfielder Bella Jodzis recorded three points, with a goal and an assist off a corner kick.
SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
Going into the regular-season finale, Indiana has an overall record of 7-8-2 and a conference mark of 3-5-2.
The Hoosiers are currently tied for seventh place in the Big Ten standings and are searching for another win to make the Big Ten Tournament. Only the top eight seeds will make the quarterfinals of the tournament, which begins on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Indiana is led by Avery Lockwood, who leads the team in points (11), assists (3) and is tied for first with four goals.
This season, 11 of the Hoosiers' 17 games have been decided by one goal. Indiana has shutout opponents eight times.

The Spartans' last five games have been decided by just one goal.
FRESHMEN IN THE LINEUP
True freshmen Paige Webber and Bria Schrotenboer have earned starting positions in the Spartan lineup this season.
Webber is the only freshman to start in all 18 games this season and has 14 points with six goals and two assists to begin her rookie campaign.
Schrotenboer has started in 15 games on the Spartan backline this season and scored her first career goal against Michigan on Oct. 19. The freshman missed three games at the beginning of the season to train with the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team in California.
SEASON IN REVIEW
The Spartans have scored 29 total goals this season, which ties for third in the Big Ten, and nine different goal scorers. The 29 goals are the most in a season since 2013 when the team scored 31 goals.
Michigan State has had four overtime games this season. The Spartans are 2-1-1 in overtime games this season.
MSU will return nine starters next year, including the top-five scorers: Gia Wahlberg, Paige Webber, Camryn Evans, Bella Jodzis and Danielle Stephan.
