Meet the Spartans: Garrett Pepple

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State wrestling will feature a newcomer weekly throughout the preseason in order to "Meet the Spartans" leading up to the 2019-20 season. This week, redshirt senior Garrett Pepple (Angola, Ind./East Noble/Indiana) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.
1. Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?

I chose Michigan State because it's a five star school academically and athletically.
2. What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
Â
I am most excited for the chance to compete for another college in my last year of eligibility. Fresh start and a new ending!

3. When did you first start wrestling?
Â
I started wrestling in sixth grade.
Â
4. What is your favorite wrestling memory?
Â
My favorite wrestling memory was capping my senior year of high school with an undefeated record and a state championship.

5. What are you majoring in at Michigan State and why?
Â
I am majoring in sport coaching and leadership.
Â
6. Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
Â
My coaches and my dad have taught me the most about wrestling, both in different ways.

7. If you were a superhero, what would be your power and what would be your name?
Â
My power would be being able to fly and my name would be G-PEP.
8. What is your favorite meal?
Â
My favorite meal is Pizza King pizza.

9. Favorite TV show?
Â
My favorite TV show is Big Brother.
Â
10. Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
I enjoy playing Fortnite and hanging out with friends.
BEFORE MSU:Â Wrestled at Indiana University from 2015-19.. Compiled a 36-43 overall record with 15 dual wins during his time at Indiana.
PREP: Wrestled under Keith Hoffer at East Noble....Lettered all four years of high school (2011-15)...Elected captain for junior and senior seasons..Was a two-time State champion and two-time runner-up... Finished high school career 130-4, including a perfect 46-0 record his senior season...2015 Dave Schultz Excellence Award Winner at Indiana...Fargo Freestyle All-American...Recorded a fourth place finish at 2014 Super 32.
PERSONAL: Born April 17, 1997...Son on Brett and Windy Pepple....Majoring in sport coaching and leadership.
