Spartans have three-game win streak snapped
SPARTAN SYNOPSISÂ Â Â
Â
Michigan State fell to Austin Peay, 5-2, on Sunday morning at the Miami Invitational as Kelsey Gross smacked a walkoff three-run homer for the Governors.Â
Â
The teams were tied headed into the seventh, and pitcher Morgan Rackel kept the Spartans off the board to set up the walkoff winner by her first baseman. Gross was 2-for-4 on the day with four of her team's five RBI. Osowski also had a pair of base hits for Austin Peay (XXX).
Rackel pitched a complete game for the win in the circle, scattering five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts. For Michigan State, Alli Walker went the first four innings, allowing four hits, striking out three and allowing just one (unearned) run. McKenna Gregory takes the loss with 2.1 innings pitched, allowing five hits – three in the seventh inning.Â
No Spartan batter had more than one hit on the day, but Charla Echols had an RBI single. Ebonee Echols, Kaitlyn Eveland, Lexi White, and Melanie Baccay also added base hits.Â
