INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Jenna Allen's team-high 19 points were not enough as No. 8-seeded Michigan State women's basketball fell to No. 1 seeded Maryland, 71-55, Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

Michigan State got within two points several times, but the quarter ended with Maryland leading, 19-15.
In the second quarter, the Terrapins used a 7-0 run to take their first double-digit lead 29-17. Maryland out-scored MSU, 12-4, to start the period. Maryland led by as many as 15 points in the quarter.
It was Maryland with the hot hand early on in the third quarter, using an 11-0 run to take back its double-digit lead 46-33. Despite cutting it to a two-point game early in the quarter, the Terps out-scored MSU 25-10 in the third to pull ahead, 60-41. Charles took control in the period scoring 14 points.
Despite the deficit after three quarters, the Spartans never stopped fighting. Michigan State had a 9-0 run over the final 3:13, but couldn't get any closer.
