Augusta National Women’s Amateur Begins Wednesday for Geer-Park

EAST LANSING – Michigan State junior Allyson Geer-Park is ready to take part in the first ever Augusta National Women's Amateur. Geer-Park will be one of 72 players coming from all over the world to take part in this prestigious event, which will take place Wednesday, April 3 – Saturday, April 6.

The first two rounds of the 54-hole stroke play will take place Wednesday and Thursday on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club. A cut to 30 players will take place following Thursday's round.
Geer will be in group 11 on Wednesday, teeing off at 11 a.m. alongside Haylee Harford (USA/Furman) and Caterina Don (Italy).
The entire field will get the opportunity to play Augusta National for an official practice round on Friday. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 6 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.
Geer-Park has two tournament victories this season, including the last time out at the Briar's Creek Invitational (March 18-19) on Johns Island, South Carolina, where she registered the lowest 54-hole tournament score in school history at 13-under-par 203. Geer-Park also won the Mary Fossum Invitational title in September.
On the season, Geer-Park has three top-five finishes and leads the 18th ranked Spartans with a 72.15 scoring average.
NBC Sports will broadcast three hours (Noon – 3 p.m.) of Saturday's final round at Augusta National. Golf Channel will deliver on-site highlights, live reports and news coverage throughout the event. Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday, April 5 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
