Agodu and Kiprotich Top Podium on Final Day of Big Ten Outdoor Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Michigan State placed 13 more Spartans on the podium on Sunday, May 12, en route to a seventh place (53 points) finish for the men and an eighth place (49 points) finish for the women. Seniors Will Agodu and Justine Kiprotich each stood atop the podium on Sunday as MSU's two first-place finishers of the day, joining juniors Nick Guerrant and Asya Reynolds as 2019 Big Ten Track & Field Outdoor champions.

Track Events:
Kiprotich scored the first points of the day for Michigan State by defeating the current NCAA fastest-time holder and setting a new facility record at Cretzmeyer Track with a 3:42.69 in the men's 1500m run.

Junior Annie Fuller put more points on the board for MSU in the women's section of the 1500m run, clocking in at 4:21.61 to finish in seventh place. Senior Kayla Kavulich also competed in the 1500m and finished in twelfth with a time of 4:34.46.

Agodu was the second member of the Spartans to stand atop the podium on Sunday after he set a new school record and personal-best in winning the 110-meter hurdles championship with a time of 13.75.

In her first Big Ten Outdoor Championships, freshman Jaiden Paris kept things going for Michigan State with an eighth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles.

Juniors Dillon McClintock and Carlyn Arteaga each turned in strong performances in the women's 800-meter run. McClintock set a new career-best in the event with a 2:05.83 as she earned a third-place finish. Arteaga took fifth in the event with a time of 2:07.40.

Noah Burton was the seventh-place finisher in the men's 400 hurdles after he clocked a time of 52.66. On the women's side of the 400 hurdles, senior Taylor Mullins took eighth after she posted a time of 1:00.80.

After a great close to the finish, sophomore Morgan Beadlescomb finished third in the men's 5000-meter run. Beadlescomb sat in ninth-place after the first 4600 meters, but a sprint to the finish over the final 400 meters led to him jumping into third with a time of 14:35.77.

Senior Erin McDonald was the Spartans' top finisher in the women's 5000-meter run with an eighth-place finish in a time of 16:02.92. Sophomore Sarah Kettel set a new collegiate-best mark, finishing in 16:56.98 for a 21–place finish.3

The men's and women's 4x100 relay teams each set season-bests with the men posting a 41.25 and the women finishing in 46.18. Michigan State also set a new season-best in the men's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:13.84.
Field Events:
The 2018 Big Ten Track & Field Indoor high jump champion, senior Ellen DiPietro tied for second-place in the outdoor high jump on Sunday. DiPietro had a best jump of 5-8 (1.73m) to match Courteney Campbell of Rutgers in the runner-up slot.

Senior Shelby Allen finished sixth in the women's triple jump after setting a new season-best with her second jump of the day. Allen's second round jump of 40-3 1/2 (12.28m) held strong through six jumps.

Sophomore Jerimiah Evans was the men's discus leader through three throws and had a best throw of 187-2 (57.05m) in his third round. Evans' throw held at second-place following a throw by eventual champion Greg Thompson of Maryland.
