
Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 11 Princeton Sunday to Close out Non-Conference Play

MSU will face its second ranked opponent in No. 11 Princeton on Sunday at 10 a.m.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday, March 1 as the Spartans host No. 11 Princeton in East Lansing. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
Michigan State is 8-3 on the season and have won six-consecutive matches. MSU boasts a home record of 4-0. The Spartans have not dropped a match since falling to DePaul, 4-2, on the road on Feb. 2.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
No. 11 Princeton begins the 2020 season with a 9-4 record, including three wins over ranked opponents. Last time out, the Tigers fell 4-2, against No. 16 Michigan on Friday, Feb. 28.
Zoe Howard leads the team in singles wins with a record of 8-2. Howard is 3-0 at the No. 2 position and 5-2 at the No. 3 spot. In doubles, the duo of Nathalie Rodilosso and Brianna Shvets stand at 8-1 overall and have won their last five matches.
SPARTANS VS. TIGERS SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's match will be the second-ever meeting between the Spartans and Tigers, with Princeton leading the series 1-0.
In the first meeting between the two programs last season, MSU fell to Princeton, 4-2, in the first match of ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Jan. 26.
LAST TIME OUT
The Spartans swept UMass, 4-0, in a neutral site match on Feb. 22 and then defeated Dartmouth, 4-2, on Feb. 23 to complete the weekend sweep in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Sophomore Maja Pietrowicz clinched the match against Dartmouth, completing a comeback win at the No. 5 spot against Ashley Hess, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, to improve to 8-2 during dual matches.
Junior Mary Lewis leads the team in singles wins during the 2020 season, as she holds an overall record of 16-4 including a 6-3 mark at the No. 1 position.
The doubles duo of senior Samantha Memije and sophomore Nicole Stephens won both of their doubles matches over the weekend, posting two wins at the No. 3 position. Memije and Stephens improved to 7-3 in doubles matches this season.

I think we've also been progressing in the right direction; bit by bit we've been checking off the things that we need to get better in and just be a little more of a complete team. Now let's see what we look like against that because probably the two or three top teams in the Big Ten are at that level so we're going to go out there, give it all we have and see how we match up."
