MSU posted a 4-1 victory over Xavier on Saturday morning before defeating Montana, 7-0.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis earned a two-match sweep over Xavier and Montana in a Saturday doubleheader at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. MSU started the day with a 4-1 victory over Xavier, before closing the doubleheader with a 7-0 win over Montana.
MSU improves to 5-3 on the season with the two wins and finishes the three-match week with an undefeated 3-0, including the 5-1 win over Alabama on Thursday, Feb. 6.
"I saw toughness; we were tired in that second match, there's no question about that. I asked a lot from them this week – pushed them physically and emotionally; we came out on top and that's all you can ask for," MSU head coach Kim Bruno said. "I'm proud of the efforts that we put in and the results prove it. I think we will take some time, rest and recover a little bit now. It's nice to be back at home a little bit and then back at it. We're looking for Gonzaga next, they're on the clock."
