Spartan NFL Combine Report: Sunday
3/1/2020 6:07:00 PM | Football
INDIANAPOLIS – Cornerback Josiah Scott was the seventh and final Spartan to perform on-field testing in front of NFL coaches, scouts and front-office personnel on the last day of the NFL Combine on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Although Scott only tested in the 40-yard dash, he certainly made the most of his opportunity, clocking in at 4.42 seconds, which tied for the fifth-fastest time of any cornerback at the combine.
Scott then went through several on-field drills to further enhance his draft stock. On Saturday, he showed off his strength with 17 reps on the bench press, tied for seventh most among the cornerbacks in Indianapolis.
A three-year letterwinner who played in 30 collegiate games, all starting assignments at cornerback, Scott closed his Spartan career ranked tied for 12th in MSU history with 32 passes defended (seven interceptions, 25 pass break-ups). He elected to forgo his senior season to enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
Michigan State had seven players participate in the 2020 NFL Combine, tied for the 11th most of any school in the FBS and the most for program since 2016.
Last Thursday, quarterback Brian Lewerke and wide receivers Darrell Stewart Jr. and Cody White tested, while linebacker Joe Bachie, defensive end Kenny Willekes and defensive tackle Raequan Williams tested on Saturday.
The next step on the way to the NFL Draft is MSU's Pro Day, which is scheduled for March 18 in East Lansing.
The 2020 NFL Draft is set for April 23-25 in Las Vegas.
