EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant announced that Lauren Rewers has been added to the 2020-21 roster.
Rewers comes to Michigan State as a transfer from the University of Hawai'i and is a native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
"Lauren is a versatile post player that will help us add depth to our center position. Her ability to block shots, score with her back to the basket, as well as face up and extend the defense will make an immediate impact on the court." Merchant said.
Rewers is a 6-4 center, who played three seasons for the Rainbow Wahine. Last season as a junior, she averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She led the University of Hawai'i in blocked shots last season which was ninth in the Big West Conference.
A graduate of Lake City High School, Rewers was a four-time first-team all-state selection and four-time first-team all-Inland Empire League. As a senior, she averaged 16.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.9 blocks, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
Rewers joins Kendall Bostic (Kokomo, Indiana) and Matilda Ekh (Västerås, Sweden), Alisia Smith (Lansing, Michigan) and Jayla James (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), as the newest members of MSU women's basketball team.
