What is something unique about your hometown? I’m from Wisconsin Dells - It is a very popular summer vacation spot with many waterparks and other attractions.
Sports I played growing up other than softball: I played basketball all the way through my senior year of high school.
My favorite sport to watch: Football is my favorite to watch.
My favorite softball memory: My favorite softball memory was when I was playing for Madison College and we were at the National Tournament in Clinton, Mississippi. We were playing a team that had previously beaten us in the season and run ruled us in both games of that double header. The game at the National Tournament was a very hard fought 8 inning battle and we came out on top!
What was your favorite subject when you were growing up? I’ve always enjoyed science starting in elementary school.
What is your major at MSU? My major is Animal Science, I grew up on a dairy farm and have spent my years tending to the cows and developing a passion for agriculture. I knew from a young age I wanted to work with animals so choosing my major was not difficult.
Do you have a nickname? My nickname is Big Al, I’ve always been the tallest on my softball teams and somehow usually always get that nickname.
Who has been the most important or influential person in your life? I think the most influential person in my life has been Nicky Rueth. As a fellow woman in the dairy industry she has shown me what hard work and dedication can do. She has developed numerous show-winning cows and inspired me from a young age to work hard towards what you want to achieve.
What is the best locker room prank you have ever seen?I don’t think it qualifies as a locker room prank, but in high school we used to have baseball-softball wars and I think the funniest prank was when we were at a team dinner and one player had left her van unlocked and the baseball team took everything out of the van including the back seats.
What is your favorite Big Ten city to visit? What has been your favorite non-conference road trip in your MSU career?: My favorite Big Ten city to visit is Lincoln, Nebraska, although we haven’t traveled there yet while I’ve been here.I have been there before and I can’t wait to go back. My favorite non-conference road trip was this year when we traveled to Clemson. South Carolina was so pretty and had perfect weather, not too warm and not too cold.
If you had one family member to spend a week with on an all-expenses paid vacation, who would it be?Where would you go? I would go on a vacation with my brother, we would go to a tropical place, probably Hawaii where we could go in the ocean and do some hiking and also be able to relax.
Your teammates are inspirational people in their own right. Tell me about a teammate (current or former) that has inspired you? I had a teammate on my high school basketball team, Caitlyn Hibner. She is an incredibly talented and motivated athlete. She plays and the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. Throughout my high school years I watched her push her talent to the top level by putting in the hard work every day. She was always in the gym, she came before practice, stayed after and I know she was in there on the weekends too. Her dedication to her dream definitely drove me to work harder at reaching mine.
