A.J. Arcuri Named Semifinalist for William V. Campbell Trophy

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State sixth-year senior offensive tackle A.J. Arcuri has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which is awarded annually by the National Football Foundation to the nation's top scholar-athlete. The award is also widely known as the "Academic Heisman."
A four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Campbell graduated with a 3.377 grade-point average with a bachelor's degree in packaging in December 2020. He currently has a 4.0 GPA in nine credits of graduate courses.
Arcuri is one of 34 players in Michigan State history to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors four times, and will be looking to be just the third Spartan to garner that distinction five times with his extra year of eligibility in 2021. Arcuri also earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholars in 2021 (cumulative GPA over a 3.7 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year).
A three-year letterwinner, Arcuri has played in 32 career games, including 17 starts at tackle. He started five games at left tackle in 2019, all seven at left tackle in 2020, and has started all five games in 2021 at right tackle. He was named to the Senior Bowl Watch List at the beginning of the season.
Michigan State has had three Campbell Trophy finalists in the past 11 seasons (Kirk Cousins in 2011, Max Bullough in 2013, Mike Sadler in 2014) along with 10 semifinalists (Cousins, Bullough, Sadler, Jack Allen in 2015, Josiah Price in 2016, Brian Allen in 2017, Khari Willis in 2018, Cole Chewins in 2019; Dominique Long in 2020).
