Max Christie Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball freshman guard Max Christie (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday. This is the third time in the last four weeks Christie has won the award.

The Spartans, ranked No. 10 in the country in the Associated Press and ESPN Coaches polls, improved to 10-2 overall with a 90-78 win over Oakland at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit last Tuesday.

In the lone game last week, Christie tied for a team-high with 17 points, including 11 in the second half, while grabbing four rebounds. He connected on 6-of-8 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point land.

In 12 games this year, Christie has started every game while averaging 9.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Michigan State is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 29, hosting High Point at the Breslin Center (3 p.m.). The game will air live on BTN, with Chris Vosters and Stephanie White calling all of the action.
