Spartans 11th After Two Rounds of the UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Florida – The Michigan State women's golf team completed round two of the UCF Challenge on Monday, moving up two spots into 11th place. The Spartans shot an 8-over-par 296 on Monday and are 12-over-par 588 for the tournament that features some of the nation's top teams.

Houston leads the tournament at 15-under-par 561, four shots ahead of Wake Forest.
Valery Plata and Yurika Tanida both shot 2-over-par 74s on Monday at Eagle Creek Golf Club, and both tied for 32nd place at 2-over-par 146 for the tournament to lead the Spartans.
Haylin Harris led all Spartans on Monday with an even-par 72 – shaving seven shots off her first-round score. She is 7-over-par 151 for the tournament.
Paz Marfa Sans is one shot back of Plata and Tanida at 3-over-par 147 for the tournament and is tied for 38th place. She fired a 2-over-par 74 on Monday.
Freshman Leila Raines carded a 4-over-par 76 on Monday and is 9-over-par 153 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Houston's Karen Fredgaard is tied with Lauren Walsh of Wake Forest for the tournament lead at 7-under-par 137.
The Spartans will begin Tuesday's final round at 8 a.m.
