
MSU Women’s Soccer Closes Out Homestand Against Minnesota Monday

The Spartans have started the season 1-0-1.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's soccer concludes its two-game homestand against Minnesota on Monday, March 1 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joe's Sports Dome in Livonia, Michigan.
With a 2-0 win against Nebraska on Feb. 25, the Spartans improve to 1-0-1 in this conference-only season. Michigan State is off to its best start since the 2015 season when they began 2-0-1 in Big Ten play.
Minnesota comes to town with an 0-1-1 record after falling to Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2-0. Much like the Spartans, Minnesota started the season with a tie. The Gophers tied Nebraska in Minneapolis, 0-0, on Feb. 21.
Three different Spartans have found the back of the net this season led by junior forward Gia Wahlberg, who scored MSU's first goal of the season against Maryland. Against the Huskers, juniors Miranda Hart and Abby Gardiner scored their first career goals. Senior midfielder Danielle Stephan also has two points so far this year with assists off of both goals against Nebraska.
MSU sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Kozal has been stellar in net for the Spartans this season, allowing only one goal in 200 minutes of action.
After the game against the Gophers, Michigan State will hit the road for a pair of games. The Spartans will take on Rutgers on Thursday, March 4 and Penn State on Sunday, March 7.
