Michigan State Hosts Indiana in Home Opener

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's field hockey team returns home to Ralph Young Field on Sunday afternoon, hosting Indiana at 3 p.m.

About the Spartans
Michigan State opened the 2020-21 last weekend at B1G at the Beach in Virginia Beach, Va. The Spartans opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Maryland on Friday and a 3-1 decision to Northwestern on Saturday.
In the loss to Northwestern on Saturday, the Spartans jumped on top in the first quarter, when junior Isa van der Weij (Naarden, The Netherlands/Sint Vintus College) tipped a shot in past the Northwestern goalie off a ball centered by senior Lia Sinisi (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex).
Junior Jade Arundell (County Kildare, Ireland/The Kings Hospital) was outstanding in goal for Michigan State, making 11 saves.

Like Michigan State, Indiana opened the season last weekend at B1G at the Beach in Virginia Beach. The Hoosiers opened the season on Friday with a 3-0 loss to Rutgers and lost 1-0 to Iowa on Saturday.
The Hoosiers fell to 0-3 with a 2-1 loss at Michigan on Friday. Freshman Emma Martin scored the lone goal for Indiana.

Michigan State leads the all-time series with Indiana, 20-4. The Spartans have won three of the last five meetings in the series.
Indiana beat MSU, 4-2, last year in the Big Ten opener for both teams in East Lansing.
