
MSU Women’s Tennis Closes Out Regular Season at No. 20 Michigan Sunday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis closes out the regular season at No. 20 Michigan on Sunday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
The Spartans are currently 6-10 overall and 6-9 in Big Ten action. Michigan State heads to Ann Arbor on a two-match winning streak. Last week, the Spartans had a 4-3 come-from-behind road win over Illinois, before a Senior Day victory against Indiana, 5-2.
Michigan currently stands tied atop the Big Ten, standing tied with Ohio State with matching 14-1 records. The Wolverines appeared several times in the latest singles and doubles rankings this week, with Kari Miller (No. 46), Gala Mesochoritou (No. 120) and Jaedan Brown (No. 121) each garnering a singles ranking. In doubles, Brown teams up with Chiara Lommer to form the No. 54-ranked doubles team.
With wins in doubles and singles last week, graduate student Samantha Memije now has 58 singles and 58 doubles wins. The 58 doubles wins put her tied for sixth all-time at Michigan State with Tracy Balagna (1983-87) and Caroline Lay (2000-04).
Junior Lauren Lemonds was the first Spartan to reach double-figure wins, standing 10-6 in dual-match action this season. She has won two-straight matches, clinching wins against Illinois and Indiana last week. The doubles team of senior Mary Lewis and junior Maja Pietrowicz has won three-straight matches, holding an overall record of 6-3 this season as a pair.
