
Spartan Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season Hosting OSU on Senior Day

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer will conclude the regular season against No. 23 Ohio State on Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium on Senior Day. Michigan State comes into the match up with a 1-8-1 record, looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. Ohio State is 5-1-3 this season, having won three-straight games.
SENIOR DAY
Prior to the game, Michigan State will honor its six seniors on Senior Day. Danielle Stephan, Gabriala Jodzis, Athena Biondi, Alex Thomas, Devin Jaqua and Michelle Herring have exemplified what it means to be a Spartan the last four years. Combined they have a total of 15 Academic All-Big Ten honors, while being stellar parts of the East Lansing community.Â

Michigan State women's soccer battled tough but was defeated, 2-1, at Indiana on Wednesday at a cold, windy Hoosiers' Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The Spartans suffered their fourth loss in a row by a one-goal margin, including the second 2-1 score. Indiana got on the board partway through the first half, before MSU leveled it a few minutes later, only to have the Hoosiers net the go-ahead goal on a penalty kick in the early minutes of the second half.
SPARTANS VS. THE LEAGUE
Senior midfielder Danielle Stephan is sixth in the Big Ten in assists with four. She added an assist against Indiana on March 31.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Kozal is fifth in the B1G in saves per game, averaging 4.20.Â
As a team, MSU is eighth in the conference in goals with 10 in 10 games played. The Spartans are sixth in saves with 42.
MICHIGAN STATE NOTES
Fighting injuries all season, only six Spartans have started all 10 games: Gia Wahlberg, Zivana Labovic, Abby Gardiner, Raegan Cox, Samantha White and Lauren Kozal.
Freshman Labovic has had an immediate impact this season. She leads the team with three goals for six points, while Gia Wahlberg has scored two goals. Four different Spartans have scored one goal this season in Abby Gardiner, Miranda Hart, Â Paige Webber, Sydney Kloosterman and Alex Thomas.
LOOKING AT THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State holds an overall series lead over Michigan State 14-10-0. The Spartans are 8-0-1 against the Buckeyes at DeMartin Stadium. MSU has won the last two games in East Lansing.
Last season, the Buckeyes narrowly defeated the Spartans, 1-0, in Columbus in the Big Ten opener. Ohio State scored in the 76th minute.
Ohio State has gone undefeated in the last five games and is on a three-game win streak heading into its game against the Spartans.
