MSU Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season at OSU Sunday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer will conclude the regular season against Ohio State at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Sunday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
The Spartans (3-6) are coming off their best offensive performance of the season, defeating Wisconsin, 4-1 on Wednesday. Ohio State is 3-4-1 this season, having lost three-straight games. Last time out, the Buckeyes fell to Michigan, 2-0, in Ann Arbor.
LAST TIME OUT
With a spot in the Big Ten Tournament on the line, the Michigan State men's soccer team exploded for a demonstrative 4-1 win over Wisconsin on Senior Day at DeMartin Stadium.
The Spartans improve to 3-6 this season, snapping a three-game losing streak. Wisconsin falls to 1-7-1 with the loss.
BIG NUMBERS ON THE BOARD
The four goals that the Spartans scored against Wisconsin on March 31 was the most since the Spartans defeated UC Riverside, 5-1, on Sept. 3, 2018.
LOOKING AT THE BUCKEYES
Including the loss earlier this season, Michigan State holds a 27-23-3 series lead over Ohio State. The Spartans lead 13-9-2 at home, while the Buckeyes lead 11-7-1 in Columbus. MSU won the last meeting on the road, 2-1, in 2018.
Ohio State's Noah Lawrence is fourth in goals against average (1.34), just ahead of MSU's Hunter Morse (1.41). Thomas Gilej is seventh in shots on goal with eight in eight games played.

Michigan State men's soccer fell to Ohio State, 2-0, in its first game outside at Lansing Catholic High School on March 3.
The Buckeyes jumped on the board early, scoring in the ninth minute. Laurence Wootton found the back of the net off of a free kick. His shot sliced to the lower left corner past redshirt-junior goalkeeper Hunter Morse.
In the 81st minute, a flurry of activity led to the Buckeyes second goal.
GETTING IN THE GAME
So far this year, only two different players have started every game in junior midfielder Jack Beck and sophomore defender Nick Stone. After missing two games, junior forward Farai Mutatu returned against Wisconsin with limited minutes. Newcomers Luke Morrell, Louis Sala and Jack Zugay have both played in all nine games, along with Will Perkins.
