It will be the Spartans' first trip to the NCAA Championships since 2017 and 13th in school history.
"It's an incredible feeling knowing that you're one of the best 24 teams in the country," MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said. "There was no question in our minds as coaches, but sometimes the challenge is getting your players to believe it as well. We just beat the No. 1 team in the country and getting to the NCAA Championships is the pinnacle and what you play for. Having the opportunity to prove who you are and what you can do is awesome."
No. 8 Florida State won the regional at 8-over-par 872, while No. 16 Texas and No. 25 UCLA tied for second place at 11-over-par 875 at the University of Louisville Golf Club. The Spartans finished tied with No. 9 Auburn three shots back at 14-over-par 878. In a one-hole playoff to determine the sixth and final team that would advance to the NCAA Championships, No. 1 South Carolina defeated No. 17 Arkansas. South Carolina finished 15-over-par 879.
Yurika Tanida and Valery Plata led MSU through the three-round regional, as both finished in the top-12. Tanida tied for seventh place at 1-under-par 215 (71-72-72), while Plata was 1-over-par 217 (72-72-73) and tied for 12th.
Tanida shot an even-par 72 on Wednesday, while Plata carded a 1-over-par 73.
"They had steady performances through all three rounds," Slobodnik-Stoll said. "They are great players and know their jobs. They know they need to play well for us to reach our goals.
"All six of our kids can play. They're all incredible players that are capable of going under par at any time."
Fifth-year senior Paz Marfa Sans had her best round of the tournament on Wednesday with a 1-under-par 71. She was even through 14 holes, then birdied the par-4 15th hole. She ended the tournament tied for 27th place at 5-over-par 221 (73-77-71).
Freshman Leila Raines tied for 51st place at 1-over-par 226 (77-72-77), while fellow rookie Valentina Rossi was 16-over-par 232 (76-77-79).
