Wrestling Announces Big Ten Conference Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference announced its full slate of league duals on Wednesday morning, which features eight matchups for Michigan State head wrestling coach Roger Chandler and his squad.

The Spartans will kick off their 2021-22 conference schedule at home against Ohio State on the opening weekend of Big Ten action, Jan. 7-9, 2022. The exact date of the dual is to be determined pending television selections.

A trip to the state of Indiana awaits MSU the second weekend of league play, as the Green and White visit Purdue on Jan. 15 before making the trek to Bloomington on Jan. 17 to face Indiana.

MSU returns home to Jenison Field House on Jan. 21 to host Rutgers. That weekend will feature a second home dual, as the Spartans welcome Penn State to East Lansing on Jan. 23.

After a week off from league action, Michigan State picks up its Big Ten slate on Feb. 4 at Maryland.

The Spartans host their final Big Ten foe on Feb. 11, with Northwestern coming to town. MSU then closes out the conference schedule on Feb. 13, making the short drive to Ann Arbor to take on rival Michigan.

Lincoln, Neb., will be the site of the 2022 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, taking place from March 5-6, 2022.

Chandler's team returns seven NCAA Championship qualifiers from last season, highlighted by a three-time qualifier, redshirt senior Cameron Caffey, and a Team USA 2021 World Greco-Roman Championship Team member, redshirt sophomore Peyton Omania. Other returning qualifiers include redshirt senior Rayvon Foley, redshirt sophomore Jordan Hamdan, redshirt junior Layne Malczewski, sophomore Chase Saldate and redshirt senior Jake Tucker.
