No. 10 Michigan State Uses Big Second Half to Pull Away from Michigan for 83-67 Win

East Lansing, Mich. – No. 10 Michigan State used a big second half run and pulled away from rival Michigan for an 83-67 win on Saturday afternoon at the Breslin Center.
Freshman guard Max Christie (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) scored 16 points and had three rebounds to lead four players in double figures for the Spartans.
Junior forward Malik Hall (Aurora, Ill./Sunrise Christian Academy [Kan.]) added 15 points, six rebounds and three steals, redshirt senior forward Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point/Marquette) finished with 14 points, two rebounds and two assists and sophomore guard A.J. Hoggard (Coatesville, Pa./Huntington Prep [W.Va.]) had 11 points and a career-high 10 assists

·         The Spartans led by four points at the break, 39-35, and used a 14-3 run over the opening 6:58 minutes of the second half took a 53-38 lead on a breakaway dunk from senior forward Gabe Brown (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville).
·         Michigan pulled to within 11 points, 64-53, after a conventional three-point play from Hunter Dickinson with 6:33 left, but the Spartans responded with a Hoggard layup and a 3-pointer from Hauser with 5:41 remaining to push the lead back to 19 points, 72-53.
