HEAD COACH JEFF HOSLER SAID…
"Obviously, it was an incredible regular season for this group, including going undefeated in conference play and winning our first trophy together. I think this group is hungry for more. This is an incredible opportunity, with a great environment and great atmosphere. We get to use a spectacular facility at Lower.com Field and have a chance to once again play on national television for our second title in 2022. I'm excited to see a quality soccer match, and I'm excited to see our team give their very best."

KICKIN' IT
With its Big Ten Tournament semifinal win over Nebraska on Thursday, the Spartans advanced to the tournament championship for the first time in program history. Graduate forward Camryn Evans notched the opening score early in the first half on an assist from freshman midfielder Courtney Koehler, but Nebraska responded later in the period to deadlock the game at halftime. Koehler responded in the second half with a goal of her own, sending her third goal of the season into the back of the net for the game-winner. In the process, MSU notched its single-season program record 16th victory and 10th-straight, culminating in a 16-1-3 overall record.
Â
SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
Head Coach Erica Dambach guides Penn State into the Big Ten Championship game boasting a 12-4-3 overall record, highlighted by a 5-3-2 finish in the B1G Regular Season. A perennial powerhouse in the Big Ten Conference, Penn State is seeking its ninth Big Ten Tournament title, taking home its most recent crown in the 2019 season. The Nittany Lions rode a pair of early goals to a 2-0 win over Northwestern in the semifinals. Senior forward Ally Schlegel is on an absolute tear offensively, recording 11 total goals and 24 points through this point in the season, leading all Penn State players. Senior Katherine Asman paces the squad with 69 saves between the posts.
Â
STORY OF THE SERIES: PENN STATE
Entering the 31st all-time meeting of the two programs and second this season, Penn State maintains a 24-6-0 record in the series but fell in the most recent meeting earlier this season. In games played at neutral sites, Michigan State trails Penn State by a 2-0-0 tally. MSU published five of its six wins at home in East Lansing and recorded its first road win during the 2022 campaign. The Spartans and Nittany Lions square off in the postseason for the third time in history, with Penn State taking both previous meetings during the Big Ten Tournament in 1995 and 2008. In what was the highest ranked victory in program history at the time, Michigan State toppled then-No. 6 Penn State in a 2-1 contest in University Park on Sept. 29. The game was MSU's first road victory in the all-time series.
