EAST LANSING, Mich. – A trio of Michigan State track and field athletes will be competing this weekend, heading to opposite sides of the country.

Heath Baldwin and Ryan Talbot are set to compete in the decathlon at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Arizona, while throws athlete Quiara Wheeler is traveling down to Miami's Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla., competing in the women's hammer and discus throws.

The Spartans are coming off the Spartan Invite last weekend, the program's first home meet since 2019. MSU captured 11 event titles at the meet, including Baldwin claiming the title in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.92. Baldwin also took third place in the men's long jump at 6.82m, while Talbot finished eighth in the men's discus with a 42.34m toss.

Baldwin, a 2021 NCAA All-American in the decathlon while at Michigan, enters the week with the 15th-best 110m hurdle time in the Big Ten (14.64 at the Raleigh Relays), while Talbot's 4.91m vault at the Raleigh Relays ranks him 10th on the conference performance list.

A 2021 NCAA All-American in the hammer throw, Wheeler's season-best toss of 59.61m ranks 50th in the country and fifth in the Big Ten, while her season-high 44.21m throw in the women's discus stands 16th in the conference.

Michigan State continues the outdoor season next week at the Louisville Invite. That meet will take place on April 15 and April 16.
