The broadcast will be available exclusively at MSUSpartans.com by clicking on "Listen Live" on the baseball schedule ... Broadcast veteran Scott Moore calls the action, with Spartan baseball alum Jim Cotter providing analysis.
Â
• Last weekend's three-game home weekend series vs. Iowa came on the heels of MSU finishing up a stretch of playing five games in four days in three different states ... The Spartans played three games in just over 24 hours after the weekend schedule at Penn State was altered to a doubleheader on Sunday, May 8 starting at 1 p.m. and a single game on Monday, May 9 with an 11 a.m. start time to accommodate MSU's travel schedule ... Michigan State arrived home in East Lansing late Monday night, then had a quick turnaround heading to South Bend via bus on Tuesday, May 11 to play at Notre Dame on Tuesday night, then returned home afterwards, before bussing to Kalamazoo on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 12 to play Western Michigan, returning home Wednesday night.
Â
• Michigan State has four games left on its regular-season slate, with Tuesday's road game at Michigan and this weekend at Nebraska, Thursday-Saturday ... Last weekend's home games against Iowa were the only three home games in a stretch of the final 12 games of the regular season for the Spartans..
Â
PROFESSIONAL STADIUM EXPERIENCE
• This weekend's games against Nebraska at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park in Lincoln marks MSU's fifth different professional stadium, and playing in the 13th, 14th and 15th official games, along with one exhibition contest.
Â
The Spartans have played at US Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, for the Minnesota Cambria Classic, for the first meeting with Notre Dame on March 5, along with Kansas (March 4) and West Virginia (March 6), going 2-1 ... MSU also played at its home-away-from-home, Fluor Field, in Greenville, S.C., home of the Greenville Drive, March 9 & 10-13, going 2-2 ... The Spartans played the Lansing Lugnuts in the Crosstown Showdown on April 6 at Jackson Field (L, 3-2 in exhibition), and then Michigan State returned to Jackson Field on April 15 to take on Michigan in the Capital Clash, losing the in-state battle ... MSU also played No. 12 Notre Dame at Comeria Park, home of the Detroit Tigers on April 26, winning 6-2 ... MSU played Penn State at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, home of the State College Spikes minor league team, losing all three ballgames with the Nittany Lions.
Â
The Spartans are 5-7 in their 12 games in professional stadiums so far.
Â
400 FOR BOSS
• MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. collected career win No. 400 on April 24 in the Spartans' 11-7 Victory for MSU at Northwestern ... Boss now has 407 career wins, with 381 wins in his 14th season at MSU (2009-pres.), and 25 wins in his lone season at Eastern Michigan (2008)).
Â
QUICK HITTERS
• Michigan State had it's season-long six game win streak snapped with the loss at Penn State at May 9 ... MSU's six-game win streak matched the Spartans' longest since a six-game win spurt April 18-27, 2018 ... The loss at Penn State cooled off the Spartans, who had won eight of their previous 10, and MSU is now 6-4 in its last 10 games and have won nine of its last 16, including a 6-2 upset of No. 12 Notre Dame on April 26 at Comerica Park in Detroit, and knocking off Iowa, 11-8, on May 15.
Â
• In the Spartans' 11-8 win over Iowa on Sunday, MSU was boosted by a nine-run second inning Sunday, sending 13 Spartans to the plate ... The nine runs was their most runs in an inning this season and most since a nine-run inning on April 7, 2018 in the seventh inning of a home game vs. Nebraska, part of a 17-5 triumph over the Huskers.
Â
• Michigan State also celebrated Spartan Senior Day on Sunday, honoring its three senior players, Peter Ahn, Kyle Bischoff and Zach Iverson, along with two student managers, Aaron Boise and Tommy Merlo, in a pre-game ceremony ... Following the win, the three Spartan senior players and two student managers went out to centerfield to kiss the painted Spartan head, the Michigan State tradition for Senior Day.
Â
• Graduate senior closer Kyle Bischoff was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List ... Bischoff currently shares the B1G lead in saves and ranks tied for 10th in the NCAA with 10 saves.
Â
• Bischoff came on in the eighth inning of Sunday's win over Iowa with one out and one Hawkeye on base, and got out of the jam and finished off the ninth to earn his B1G leading 11th save of the season ... The 11 saves moves Bischoff up to tie for No. 2 on MSU's single-season saves list, tied with Mike Ericson with 11 in 1990, and are the most since 2014 when Jeff Kinley fired a school-record 13 saves.
Â
• Bischoff also picked up two saves and a win in three appearances in the span of a week ... He earned his eighth save of the season on April 20, earning back-to-back saves in MSU's wins over Oakland on April 19 and over Eastern Michigan a night later ... Bischoff then collected the save in MSU's win over Purdue Fort Wayne on April 27 for his ninth of the season ... He then came on in early relief in MSU's win at Northwestern on April 24, coming on in the first inning with the bases loaded and pitched a career-high 6.1 IP of relief to earn the win.
Â
• MSU's recent six-game win streak came against four different teams with the 11-7 win at Northwestern on April 24, a 6-2 victory over No. 12 Notre Dame at Comerica Park in Detroit on April 26, a 7-4 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on April 27, then a three-game sweep (8-4, 2-1, 9-7) over Minnesota on April 29-May 1.
Â
• The 2-1 win over Minnesota on April 30 was the Spartans' sixth one-run win of the year, and Monday's 10-9 loss in 11 innings at Penn State was Michigan State's 10th one-run game ... MSU is now 6-4 in one-run games ... Michigan State won three one-run games in all of 2021 in 44 games, and already posted three one-runs wins in first 17 games this season.
Â
• MSU came from behind in the 9-7 win over Minnesota on May 1, marking the Spartans' fourth comeback win in the last two weeks, along with the 11-7 win at Northwestern on April 24, as well as both of the previous week's wins in the 8-7 win over Oakland on April 19 and the 7-6 victory over Eastern Michigan a night later ... The Spartans now have nine come-from-behind wins on the season, after rallying from an early 1-0 deficit on Sunday vs. Iowa, before winning 11-8.
Â
• Michigan State's 11 runs in Sunday's win over Iowa matched the 11 runs hung on the board in the April 24 win at Northwestern ... With Sunday's 11 runs, the Spartans improved to 9-0 when posting double-digit runs this season ... The 11 runs on April 24 was MSU's first 10+ outing since plating 10 runs in its last B1G come-from-behind win on April 10 at Ohio State ... MSU's last three double-digit runs outings have come on Sundays, as part of four on the season, half of the Spartans' total, along with twice each on Fridays and Saturdays and once on a Wednesday.
Â
• The Spartans are also 17-3 when leading after seven innings and 20-1 when leading after eight innings, suffering the first loss when doing so last Monday at Penn State, as the Spartans had an 8-6 lead heading into the ninth ... MSU has out-scored its opponents, 25-23 in the ninth inning, the only inning that MSU has more runs than the opposition.
Â
• Junior outfielder Casey Mayes rejoined teammates sophomore outfielder Jack Frank and junior outfielder Zaid Walker for the active player HR lead after Mayes mashed his eighth HR of his career on May 9 at Penn State ... Frank bashed his seventh HR of his career in the April 19 win over Oakland and added his eighth in the April 29 win over Minnesota ... Frank leads the team with seven HR this season ... Walked also belted his eighth career HR in the April 29 win over Minnesota for his third round-tripper of the season ... Mayes now has four homers on the season after the shot at Penn State, as he also knocked two HRs in consecutive days in the weekend at Northwestern on April 23-24.
Â
• Sophomore infielder Mitch Jebb leads the Big Ten and ranks 22nd in the NCAA in toughest to strikeout - with just one K every 12.8 ABs - on just 16 Ks in 205 ABs ... Boosted by going 3-for-5 on Saturday vs. Iowa, along with 4-for-5 on Monday at Penn State, Jebb has had multiple hits in five of the last six games, as he had a 10-game hitting streak halted by going hitless in Friday's loss ... He has a team-leading 21 multi-hit games this season, with the four hits tying a season-high from a 4-for-5 outing vs. West Virginia (March 6) ... Jebb also tops the squad with 12 multiple RBI outings, including three during his recent 10-game hit streak, led by three ribbies at Penn State on May 9 ... Jebb has a team-best 14 RBI over the last 15 games.
Â
• Graduate-senior outfielder/infielder Peter Ahn is hitting a team-best .556 (5-for-9) over the last five games, having played in four of the five contests last week, getting a day off in the Notre Dame game ... Ahn posted a .667 on-base percentage and .778 slugging percentage in four games ... He knocked at least one hit in each of the four games, boosted by going 2-for-2 with three RBI in Sunday's win over Iowa, with both hits coming as part of MSU's 9-run second inning, including a bases-clearing three-RBI triple down the right field line and into the corner, and the runs he drove in proved to be the difference in Spartans' 11-8 win, adding single in first at bat of second inning, adding one walk and one HBP, adding on to his team-leading 11th HBP.
Â
