
Jarek Broussard Named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State graduate transfer Jarek Broussard has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Wednesday.
Last year, MSU's Kenneth Walker III became the first Spartan to win the Doak Walker Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top college running back. This marks the second straight year Broussard has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List.
Broussard transferred to Michigan State from Colorado in May after graduating with a bachelor's degree in ethnic studies. He rushed for 1,556 yards and seven touchdowns on 298 carries (5.2 avg./91.5 ypg) in two seasons for the Buffaloes (17 games, including 15 starts, from 2020-21). A native of Dallas, Texas, Broussard led Colorado in rushing the past two years, including six 100-yard games, and was named the 2020 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in rushing with 895 yards and five touchdowns on 156 carries (5.7 avg; 149.2 ypg) in just six games in the pandemic-shortened season.
