EAST LANSING, Mich. – Its been nearly three weeks since Michigan State played on Ralph Young field. The Spartans are back to host the visiting Penn State Nittany Lions in a Big Ten showdown on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. and Rutgers on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. MSU will play its fourth and fifth consecutive game against a top 20 opponent.

A TRUE SPARTAN
- Celina Riccardo has made 65 consecutive starts. Her streak started back on Oct. 18, 2019. She has appeared in all 78 career games.
CECILY CHARLES
- Redshirt freshman Cecily Charles registered 10 saves against Maryland. It was her third game registering 10 or more saves this season. Her 60 saves ties for first in the Big Ten.
- Charles leads the Big Ten and ranks sixth in the country in saves per game (7.14).
- Her .781 save percentage ranks 15th in the country.
- She enters the week with a 2.50 GAA.
A B1G PLAYER TO WATCH
- Ellie Rutherford entered the season as one of three MSU players on the B1G Players to watch list. She is currently tied for first on the team in goals scored with Emma O'Neill (3).
- Rutherford has scored in three of the last five games. Two of her goals came in conference against Iowa, and she scored the game-winning goal against Indiana.
- Rutherford is one goal away from tying a career-high for goals in a season (4).
OTHER GOAL SCORERS
- Lena Kassel is second on the team with two goals. She recorded her first goal as a Spartan against Central Michigan.
- Lulu Fulton, Bianca Pizano, and Kim Smit each found the net this season.
ABOUT THE NITTANY LIONS
- Penn State is led by first year head coach Lisa Bervinchak Love. She has spent the last 30 seasons on the Nittany Lions coaching staff.
- Senior Sophia Gladieux is one of the top scorers in the country as she averages 2.55 points per game (fifth). She has 28 total points registering 13 goals and two assists.
- Brie Barraco has started all 11 games for the Nittany Lions this season. With over 650 minutes in goal, Barraco has faced 136 shots and has had 60 saves. She is tied with Cecily Charles for the most in the Big Ten.
- Penn State enters the week ranked 15th in the NFHCA coaches' poll.
ABOUT THE SCARLET KNIGHTSÂ
- Entering the week, Rutgers remains the lone undefeated Division I team in the country and is ranked 4th in the country in the latest NFHCA coaches' poll.
- The team is led by 12th year head coach Meredith Civicio. She has posted a 113-92 record as a head coach for the Scarlet Knights. Civicio looks to start 4-0 in conference play for the first time in her career.Â
- Five different Rutgers players have scored three or more goals this season. Leading the pack is Guillerm Causarano with 10, and she also leads the team in assists (6) and total points (26). Her 2.17 points per game ranks 10th in the country.
- The Scarlet Knights defense is led by a stout goalkeeper in Sophia Howard. Howard has four shutout victories this year and has the eighth best GAA in the country (0.91) she has a .789 save percentage.
