Women’s Golf Finishes in Sixth Place at The Landfall Tradition

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 1-under par 287 in the final round and finished in sixth place among 18 teams at The Landfall Tradition, played at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
The Spartans finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 7-under par 857 (279-291-287).
Duke and Clemson tied for first place at 21-under par 843, with Duke claiming the title on a tiebreaker. UCF finished in third place (20-under par 844), with Arizona fourth (9-under par 855) and Alabama rounded out the top-five teams (8-under par 856).
Final Results
Sophomore Paula Balanzategui was the top finisher for Michigan State, posting a career-best tie for seventh place at 6-under par 210 (68-71-71).
Junior Katie Lu was the other top-20 finisher for the Spartans, tying for 15th place at 3-under par 213 (71-71-71).
Junior Brooke Biermann and senior Leila Raines tied for 36th place with scores of 1-over par 217. Biermann closed with a 2-over par 74 on Sunday (68-75-74) Raines tied for the low round of the day for the team with a 1-under par 71 to complete her tournament (72-74-71).
Junior Shannon Kennedy finished in 90th place at 20-over par 236 (77-81-78).
Michigan State will return to the course after the New Year, starting the spring season at the UCF Challenge from Feb. 4-6.
