• Michigan State re-engages in college hockey's most-played rivalry this week when it takes on Michigan.  The teams will play Friday at Munn Ice Arena, and then again on Saturday at Little Caesars Arena.  Â
•  The Wolverines own a 177-139-24 edge in the series all-time, but MSU owns a 70-54-12 all-time edge in East Lansing.  Michigan owns the upper hand when the teams meet at a neutral site, 38-22-7.  The teams will be meeting for the fourth time at Little Caesars Arena, with the Wolverines taking wins out of the last three contests at the home of the Red Wings and Pistons.Â
• Michigan State swept Notre Dame at home last weekend by 3-0, 3-2 margins.  It was the fifth weekend sweep of the season for the Spartans and the third in Big Ten play.  With a 15-13-2 record, MSU has surpassed its win total for all of 2021-22 (12) and is tied with the 2019-20 team for the most wins (15) since the Spartans had 17 victories in 2014-15. That squad was also MSU's last to finish over .500 (17-16-2).Â
•  With the six points, the Spartans moved into a four-way tie for second place in the Big Ten standings.  Minnesota has a 13-point lead on the rest of the field (43 points), while MSU, Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State all have 30 points.  Notre Dame is in sixth place with 26 points, and Wisconsin sits in seventh with nine points. Â
• The Spartans have moved back up to No. 15 in both the USCHO poll and USA Hockey Magazine survey.  MSU is in the top 20 for the 12th consecutive week after beginning the season unranked.  Â
•  With a 15-13-2 record, MSU has surpassed its win total for all of 2021-22 (12) and is tied with the 2019-20 team for the most wins (15) since the Spartans had 17 victories in 2014-15. That squad was also MSU's last to finish over .500 (17-16-2).Â
• With an 11-4-1 mark at Munn Ice Arena and one regular-season home contest remaining, MSU has double-digit victories in its home rink for the first time since 2011-12 (11).  The Spartans won 11 games at Munn in both that season and 2009-10, the most since 14 home wins in the 2007-08 season.  With nine Big Ten Conference victories, it is the second-most for MSU in its B1G history  MSU won 11 B1G games in both 2014-15 (37 points) and 2019-20 (35 points).
