EVANSTON, Ill. – Michigan State's defense played tough but ultimately fell on the road to No. 3-ranked Northwestern University, 6-0.
The Wildcats (10-1, 3-0 B1G) offense was aggressive from start to finish on Friday evening. The Spartans (3-6, 1-2 B1G) faced 10 shot attempts in the opening quarter which was the most faced in a single quarter this season. The bend but don't break defense kept the score 0-0 after 15 minutes.
The lone goal in the first half for the Wildcats came on a penalty corner as Alia Marshall found Maja Zivojnovic to give NU a 1-0 to end the half.
The explosive offense came alive in the second half for the home team, as four different Wildcats located the net on five goals as NU showed why it's a top-three team in the country en route to a 6-0 win.
